Ecommerce keyword research: map searches to pages

Start with what your store actually sells, not a long list of popular words. A useful keyword map connects a shopper's question to a page that can answer it and a product you can supply.

1. Build a seed list from your catalog

List your main categories, product types, materials, use cases and common customer questions. Separate brand names from generic product searches. Use your own support conversations only when you have permission, and remove personal information before sharing them with any research tool.

2. Identify the intent behind each query

Inspect the current search results in your target country. A query dominated by collections may need a category page; a query about choosing or using a product may need a guide. Do not create a second page for every small wording variation.

  • Product intent: a specific model or item
  • Category intent: browsing a type of product
  • Informational intent: choosing, comparing or using

3. Validate demand and uncertainty

Use a keyword research source for country-specific volume and difficulty, and Google Trends for relative interest. Trendifyn's search-volume and social-momentum figures are AI estimates, not measured keyword data. Missing data means uncertainty, not an easy ranking opportunity.

4. Assign one primary page to each intent

Make a sheet with query cluster, intent, existing URL, proposed improvement and owner. Improve an existing relevant page before adding a near-duplicate. For example, a fictional camping store could map 'lightweight two-person tent' to a collection and 'how to choose a tent' to a buying guide.

5. Prioritize and review results

Choose targets that fit your stock, margins, customer needs and available publishing time. Publish a small batch, then review impressions, clicks and sales in your own measurement tools. Trendifyn can turn a selected opportunity into a blueprint and action plan; it does not provide connected Search Console reporting.
